More than 200 people arrested in connection to violent attacks in Mbozi and Rungwe


Rungwe/Mbozi. Police have arrested  270 people in connection to violent  attacks in Mbozi and Rungwe on Monday and Tuesday respectively.
 Mbeye Regional Police Commander (RPC) Ahmed Msangi said 116 people-mainly young people- were arrested in Rungwe, while 116 were arrested in Mbozi.

Mr Msangi said these individuals were attempting to force the National Electoral Commission to announce Vwawa, Mbozi and Rungwe constituencies results.
Furthermore, Tuesday saw police using force to disperse supporters of one parliamentary candidate who rioted to force returning officer for Rungwe constituency to announce the result.

On Monday, a primary court building and CCM office were set ablaze by unknown individuals demanding authorities announce parliamentary results for Vwawa and Mbozi constituents.
The incidents occurred separately on Monday night according to Mbozi district commissioner Mr Mohamed Namohe.
