Apple opens talks to acquire Tidal of Jay Z

Apple is allegedly in talks to acquire Tidal, a streaming-music service run by rapper and business mogul Jay Z. Buying Tidal would give Apple Music one less competitor in the streaming music space.
According to The Wall Street Journal, the news came after various reports that Tidal has been shopping for potential buyers, including holding talks last year with Napster, the company formally called Rhapsody. According to unnamed sources, Apple is exploring the idea of bringing on Tidal to bolster its Apple Music service because of Tidal’s strong ties to popular artists such as Kanye West, Rihanna and Madonna.

Terms of the potential deal aren’t known.

Jay-Z bought the service in March 2015 for $56 million from Swedish company Aspiro. He launched the service under the brand Tidal a month later. He has given 19 famous artists and bands small stakes in Tidal and promised each millions of dollars worth of marketing, according to people familiar with the matter.

A Tidal spokesman said Tidal executives had not held talks with Apple.

Spotify still remains the largest service with 30 million subscribers.

Tidal, meanwhile, doubled its subscriber base in the last six months, from 1 million to just over 3 million, according to CEO Jeff Toig, largely on the strength of its artist exclusives with the likes of West and Beyonce

An Apple spokesman declined to comment. Tidal representatives have also kept mum about the supposedly on going talks.

Ivorien professor pictured backing a student's baby speaks out, says being mothers should not discourage women from getting education

Ivory Coast professor Honore Kahi, who was pictured carrying a student's baby on his back in class said being a mother should not stop women getting an education, BBC reports.

Prof. Kahi said he offered to take the baby because he was crying and preventing the mother from sitting in class. He said his students were surprised, began to laugh and then took pictures. 

Some of those who shared the photos on social media showered him with praises, describing him as a hero. Mr Kahi, who teaches communications at Ivory Coast's Bouake University, said that women should not be discouraged by people's perceptions of what they should be able to do.

"What prevails here is... male chauvinism, he said. and then quoted an ancient philosopher in his interview with BBC Afrique. "It is not because things are difficult that we do not dare. It is because we do not dare that they are difficult.' In our environment we let ourselves be discouraged by others."

He said that when he took the baby and tied him on his back he stopped crying and fell asleep, adding that he learned how to do it by observing how women carry their children. 

"In fact, men are able to do certain things, and usually it's the way society sees men that prevents them from doing these things."

Suge Knight sues Chris Brown after getting shot 7 times at a club in 2014

Marion "Suge" Knight is suing Chris Brown.The rap mogul was shot 7 times at 1Oak nightclub in August 2014. According to ABC, in the lawsuit filed on Monday, he stated that he believes Brown who hosted the event that night,was at fault for not hiring adequate security, which he says is how at least one armed person was allowed into the venue the night of the party.

The lawsuit is also filed against 1Oak, stating the club should have taken special security precautions because events hosted by Brown have a history of violence. It accuses Brown of gang ties and a "well-documented track record of hosting events and/or parties in which violence frequently erupted."

Knight survived gunshot wounds to the abdomen, chest and left forearm. He cited multiple health complications from those injuries, including a blood clot.

But the bigger issue is that his attorneys, J. Tooson and Jeremy Lessem, say the shooting was a factor in his current murder trial.

50 Cent arrested for using indecent language during concert in St. Kitts

Rapper 50 Cent was arrested early Sunday morning following his performance at the St Kitts Music festival on the Island of St. Kitts on Saturday. According to reports, 50, was arrested in his dressing room at the Warner Park stadium and taken to the Basseterre police station where he charged with making use of Indecent Language. That's supposedly him being bailed at the station...

50 was performing on the former British Caribbean colony of about 40,000 people, and began cursing on stage. Meanwhile, there's a law that makes it a misdemeanor to use profanity in public. 

 

His bodyguard Bajar Walter who was slapped with the same charge was also charged with obstruction.

 

The police said that 50 Cent was cooperative, but Walter was not pleased and attempted to intervene. The two were granted bail in the amount of EC$5000 (One EC dollar =US$0.37 cents) each with two sureties. Both men will appear in court on Monday, June 27.

According to media reports, prior to taking the stage, the police advised Jackson’s manager about the country’s laws concerning the use of indecent language and indicated that they would be obliged to arrest him if he broke the law.

Tanzania News: Ukawa counters JPM on political activity ban

President John Magufuli’s Thursday remarks have sent shock waves through the Opposition with the Coalition of Defenders of the People’s Constitution (Ukawa) wondering whether  the Head of State has enough advisers to guide him on what to say in public and what not to. Speaking at State House after receiving a National Electoral Commission report on the 2015 General Election, Dr Magufuli said he would not let politics distract him from his endeavour to deliver on his campaign promises.

He said politicians should articulate their agendas and ideas in Parliament and other official fora or wait for the next campaign period in 2020. But the Leader of Opposition in Parliament, Mr Freeman Mbowe, who doubles as Ukawa’s co-chairman, said the remarks were unfortunate and should not have come from a president who came to power through the rule of law under the country’s constitution.

Ukawa encompasses four opposition parties: Chadema, CUF, NCCR-Mageuzi and the National League for Democracy.

“He has made a number of controversial statements. I wonder whether he was prepared to become Head of State of a country that has pretensions to being democratic….it shows he has become President by accident,” said Mr Mbowe.

In a 16-point statement availed to journalists at Parliament grounds here yesterday  the Opposition calls upon Dr Magufuli to understand that politics is not a luxury but a serious profession just like any other one.

Local Government President's Office of pronouncing  names of the students who were selected to join Form Five and Technical Colleges for 2016. Students are chosen from public schools and non-government.

A total of 65,720 students, including 29,457 girls and 36,263 boys are selected to join Form Five and Technical Colleges. Among the students chosen to 34,064, including 13,466 girls and 20,598 boys equivalent to 52 percent will join the Science and Mathematics; and students 30 897 including adolescent girls, 15,445 boys and 15,452 equivalent to 47 percent have chosen to concentrate on the Arts and Business students 759, including the girls 220 and boys 539 equal to 1 percent have chosen to join the polytechnics.

Students were selected to join Form Five in 2016 will begin the first term on July 11, 2016 and there will not be any changes to the school. All students are required to report to the school were selected. If a student will be late reporting to 24 which is the last day of the report, will be replaced by another student who missed a chance.

After Bongo Flava artist, Linah Sanga her Instagram account with more than 1.3 million followers being hacked, there have been many words. Some people say Linah has sold and has signed up new account.
"Firstly! up to now I still have plans to restore it to my account and see the progress is positive about 90 percent, I pray to God only to return," she said.
"Also I can tell my fans for now I do not have any account of Instagram so be very careful because there people have been telling me that I have opened a new account, no I have not signed up new account, they must be careful and should pay attention to those who pretend like me," Linah warned.

This time, while ministering to his congregants, Penuel Mnguni, commanded some of them to fall into a deep sleep. He then stepped on top of their bodies and jumped up/down. After doing this, he allegedly commanded them to wake up. When they did, he asked if they felt any pain and they all confirmed not to have felt anything. Lol

Ray-C Back in Rehab after Her Suicide Attempt Last Week

Kinondoni area is Dar es Salaam came to a standstill on Thursday night after a delirious Ray-C was bundled into a police car kicking and screaming that she was being kidnapped.

Witnesses say that Ray-C arrived at Kinondoni area barefoot claiming that there were kidnappers pursuing her and she needed to be protected.

Others said that the revered singer also tried stripping and asked for a knife so that she could take her own life. Tanzanian actress Esha Behati who witnessed the whole situation said that she had gone to look for some chips before someone alerted them that Ray-C was on the streets acting crazy and threatening to strip.

Buheti then rushed outside and gave her account of the story on Instagram. “Ray C said that she needed to be shielded from some people who wanted to kidnap her. People then held her to prevent her from hurting herself but she was very strong and started talking incoherently. She then started looking for a knife to stab herself and she was restrained by members of the crowd.

After people stopped her from stabbing herself, she threw herself on the ground and stared rolling in the mud and screaming. I broke into tears.” Buheti revealed in an emotional post

“A police car came and took her away with difficulty because she kept fighting off the police and when they managed to get her into the car, she kept shouting “Natekwa!” (I’m being kidnapped).” The Tanzanian actress wrote before urging her fellow Tanzanians to help RayC.

Thankfully, Ray-C has received some help and is currently admitted at the Rehab, Life and Hope Rehabilitation Centre, in Bagamoyo, Dar es Salaam.

Speaking to Mwanaspoti, one of the Rehab Center Directors Karim Banji said “Yes it’s true we received Ray C but I honestly can’t comment on her state because it’s too early to say anything vivid about her state.”
